Jeeping in Alaska

I need to find some good Jeep trails in AK. I am semi new to Anchorage and my Jeep is yearning to see some of the Alaska bush. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I'd suggest browsing alaska4x4network.com. You may need to request a username from the admin. They won't directly give out trail information but you might be able to hook up with a group doing a run some time and find some trails that way. You can also check out the trip reports forum to see what kind of stuff is out there.

I'm in southeast and there's nothing down here.

Check out Jim Creek, King River, or up in Sutton.

Depends on how far up the trail you want to go I guess. We went back quite a ways in my buddies blazer, I think it's stock height with 32's.

Any pictures of you wheelin' up there? Alaska has got alot of attention since Palin and Ice Road Truckers, I like both. I would vote for one and would like to try the other. Guess which is which. Heh Heh

check with the local 4x4 shops. Most of those guys are into real serious offroading.

What's the Al-Can Highway like these days? In the 1970s it was still a punishing gravel road. I'm hoping to make a trip in the next year or two with the jeep and a small fiberglass travel trailer.
