Gun death statistics

UK... 0.05 homicides by firearm per 100,000 for the five years up until 2011.

USA...3.55

Canada....0.51

Australia...0.11

And the winner is Japan...0.00

But it could be much worse....Honduras....64.8
( in Honduras there are only 6 guns per 100,000 people)

UK 1997 Firearms Amendment Acts.
Homicide rates
1997 1.24/100,000
1998 1.43/100,000
1999 1.45/100,000
2000 1.71/100,000
2001 1.79/100,000
2002 2.1/100,000 (Note Harold Shipman's X victims he was prosecuted for included here)
2003 1.75/100,000
2004 1.6/100,000
So homicide rates increased only there were fewer gun homicides.

The fact is, if you divided the US into two countries, a black one and a white one.
The white homicide rate would be 2.1/100,000
African Americans experience a homicide rate of 16.0/100,000.
What is the demographic breakdown of homicides in the US? over 50% of all homicide victims are African Americans, they represent 13.6% of the US population. Do you know any European, Oceanian, Asian country with such a demographic outlier? Is it fair to do a comparison between countries where one has such a significant demographic difference?
There are over 1,000 more murders committed every year by African Americans in the US, than by whites, even though they comprise only 13.6% of the population. 80% of those murders are committed by males under the age of 30.
I don't have a solution. I hope there is one.

Oh, and homicide rates in the US have been dropping since the 1980s.

I used to believe that if everyone was armed, that gun violence would go away. I no longer believe that however.
