The initial cost
From what I have heard from people (friends, neighbors, etc) there are a couple of issues with the hybrid that keep people from buying them in the first place. 1. The cost. The hybrids are way over priced to buy. 2. The size. Why spend all that money for something that you can barely carry a small bag of groceries. Not to mention, getting in and out of the dang things, seems like any one over the size of an anorexic midget would need a shoe horn and lots of grease to get in and out of the dang things. And even worse, in a collision, the little car doesn't stand a chance. 3. The driving range. Why buy a car that you can only drive 50 miles or so and then have to recharge?
When you can drive across the country in one in a couple days, carrying a full load of suitcases and 3 other people, then I MIGHT be interested in checking them out. Otherwise, forget it...
