I'm not from New Mexico, but...

Sugar's BBQ & Hamburgers in Embudo is a great reason to visit. Get the BBQ Brisket burrito with green chiles. It was worth the drive from St Louis..

Mostly all down south, as that's where I grew up. I agree with the Hatch Green Chili. I really miss good green chili.

Great food just about everywhere you go. You'll need to ask if the red sauce or the green is the hotter one, they sometimes switch 'em up from town to town.

There are only two reasons that I can think of to visit N.M. The food and for 4 wheeling. Out side of that there isn't anything here.
