Dog ate a cigarette butt

Walked my dog last night and noticed that he ate something looking like a cigarette butt (but not sure). I searched the information and found this article https://vapingdaily.com/support/healthy-pets/, it says this can be rather dangerous. I haven't seen any changes in my dog’s behavior yet, except that he drinks a lot of water, more than usual. Does anyone know what symptoms might be in this case?

I found this website that should tell you the symptoms, although by the time I am writing this the symptoms should have long since manifested themselves.
