I love wasps. I grew up picking them off with a Red Ryder. Always had a blast.

The second to last photo seems to be a wasp with a blackberry. In OR blackberries are like kudzu is to the South. I expected bees or wasps all around berry bushes but barely saw any.
I see their nests all about the suburbs but I seldom see wasps in the agricultural areas around me.

I like honey bees, but wasps I can do without. My house gets infested with nests every year. It's like wasp central.

Pop learned a good lesson about paper wasps when I was a kid. he discovered their nest under the eaves of our garage. His "cure" was a gas soaked rag on a stick set ablaze.
Worked great, the wasps were so busy fleeing our burning garage they never even argued over squatters rights.
God bless the Mahtomedi MN fire dept for saving the structure.

Funny you would mention a "Red Ryder"......do you still have it?.....I'll be 79 in April and still have mine,
still loaded with "BB's", and still works fine....guess it will be about 67 + yrs. old.............
