My lovely wife does everything domestic for me and when I try to intervene and help her she tells me to relax and enjoy myself, she doesn't mind doing it

If she's like my wife, it's because they don't want us to screw it up....
Of course there are those days when I'm wrong, either way.....lol
I have found the easiest way to get out of chores you don't want to do is royally mess it up the first time: "I have NEVER heard of having to seperate darks and whites."

Lol, I believe before the edit was "I don't have a honey do list, I have a honey do or die list.

I've heard about that, I've never done it, but I have heard of it.

Haha! Yes!
"Why would I waste soap on the cutlery!? Hot water is fine, it's stainless steel!"
That sounds like a good balance. The problem comes when the honey do lists become unbalanced. You do all the repairs, projects, vehicle work, shoveling, digging, lifting and when you take a break you're handed a clean this and that list... If your wife also chips in on the labor work than it isn't so bad.
There are some things that are just out though. If your wife won't change the oil in the car you shouldn't be cleaning the toilet. :-)
