we went to parker canyon and watched the "human caused" patagonia fire creep toward the ridge also surveyed the damage, extent and casue of the fire at the campground last week. time to double check the insurance and cut the "grass".

I'm looking forward to going up Guajalote Flats to see whats left after the (Duke) fire is what its being called. I get to watch the pretty fire from the airport. So pretty, just need to get closer with hotdogs and marshmellows...

Have they closed off camping at Patagonia or at Parker? I was planning on going for my birthday.

looks like the wife wants to go to Madera. Haven't ever been on the trails there but I hear they are pretty easy going.

the road jsut before the entrance to the south has a nice little water fall right by the hanidcapped parking area, I think that rd then turns dirt and proceeds south to elphant butte. think its popular wiht mtn bikers. it may then hook up wih the road to alta which is about like gunsight. the hike up mt wrightson is fantatstic.
