Best Austin Beer spot

Nowadays in Austin there are tons of great places to grab a beer. What are your favorites? Lets say one brewpub and one place for micro, local or otherwise.

Ill start, I think the best place to get a good micro is probably the drafthouse. They may not have girls in little skirts running around like the flying saucer or near as many taps but it is a great environment and occaisionally they have good housemade beer on tap.

For a true brewed on premisis beer though, I think Uncle Billys has the top spot.

How about everyone else?

I live in Amarillo but visit Austin often on state business. I really do like the drafthouse and the Gingerman. I heard the Gingerman closed is this true?

I went to this place a few weeks ago, and it had some good beer and food.

The Gingerman did not close, I was there last weekend. It did move about 6 months or so ago, but it is right around the corner between 3rd and 4th streets on Lavaca.

I've always been partial to Gingerman, and the Draught House.

Red's Porch is quite nice this time of year and has a good tap selection. I'm curious to check out the new HopDoddy place on South Congress: local beers and burgers can't go wrong.

Never been to the Draught House, but it's alway's super crowded, must be good.
I frequent the Gingerman or Flying saucer every Monday, but Pour House Pub is pretty good, very small inside, but huge outdoor biergarten. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Scholz's Garden on any of these beer related threads, great, especially before a UT home game... Given this season, you wouldn't want to go to a game without making a stop for a beer, or four, at Scholz's.

All Good Places

I would agree with everyone saying that Draught House Pub is one of the best. Though it does get packed, there is nothing like sitting outside under the Texas Stars enjoying a pint. The street that its on is not a busy street (Sitting outside, I find that nice)

A good place to have a beer and watch some football...that is not your typical sports bar, I would say is Black Sheep Lodge on S. Lamar. Decent beer selection and above average bar food!!

Cheers,

John
