I've been visting Bodie for over 30 years, we never tire of going there. I've came in from the east, west, north and south, for a high clearance vehicle its no problem. The main road in (270)from 395 when dry is no problem even for a car. I've only been once after a light snow and that was really cool as we had the whole place to ourselves before all the Fall Color photograhers began showing up after a few hours. My next adventure there is to folllow the old railroad grade from Bodie over the hills south to Mono Lake. I've followed the grade from east of Mono Lake to Mono Mills where they cut all the timber for building Bodie and shoring up the mines. The tracks are long gone but the railroad ties are still laying out there in some spots.
