Making your own ammunition is a lot more expensive than I thought.
Oh and it all depends on your situation, as far as your caliber. a 9-mm, for example, has some power behind it, but certainly not as much as a .40 or .45. Also, when it comes to range, the 9mm will hit the dirt after a couple hundred yards - it's kind of like lobbing a baseball. For my home defense, I use a .40 with hollow points, so there's no chance of a blow-through - I've got two kids, so that's my chief worry, of course.

First in line for home defense is my 590, I keep 4 mini shells loaded before the 00 buck, they only displace 2 normal shells and are less likely to over penetrate..
Close, 410/45 cal. I buddy has one. It's great for home protection. You load the shotgun shell first to startle them and then blow their head off with the 45. lol
so my mossberg 535 is sh**ing the bed. long story short, the airport broke my gun case, and basically left it under water for 3 days. that was 4 years ago, and this hunting season, its starting to show it. (loading issues, firing issues). need some suggestions on a new shotgun. i think i am going to go with an autoloader this time. thinking about browning. any suggestions? it has to be 12 ga with at least a 28 inch barrel and can chamber 3.5 inch shells.
