Love their burgers too, ask for the "Texas BBQ Burger" They don't have it on the menu anymore but it is awesome. Onoin straws, BBQ sauce, white cheddar. They also do beer tastings every quarter, one is coming up on December 7th. I always stay afterward and discuss brewing with Ryan Clooney, the brewmaster.

In Chicago...

Hopleaf - best beer selection in town and the food is amazing.

The Maproom - No food, but an admirable beer selection.

Revolution Brewing - Fantastic food and the best beer.

Piece Brewery and Pizzeria - Best pizza in town and the beer is pretty good. Go early if you don't want to wait.

Moonshine - Nice selection of house brewed beers and a respectable menu.

I live in the 'burbs and my local is Irish Times in Brookfield. It's a nice comfy place with ok food and a goodly selection of tap handles.

However, the character of this place changes considerably after midnight or maybe I'm just getting old.

Brixie's in Brookfield, on Ogden Ave. Tons of beers, including odd and adventurous choices, and tons of beer knowledge. NO snootiness. Just a bar with tons of good beer.

i'll put another vote in for tribes alehouse in mokena. pretty good belgian selection, and they have some pretty cool events there. (bells vs founders, field trip to dark lords day, ect.)

I also recently went to a show at the bottom lounge in the city, they had two hearted and hobgoblin on tap and some decent food to go with it.
